Elon Musk released a render of Tesla Giga Berlin via Twitter recently. It revealed the Gigafactory in Berlin in its full splendor with the sunlight cascading down on the factory as if it were welcoming the start of new horizons for Tesla.

The picture most likely depicts Giga Berlin’s Model Y factory. Tesla plans to produce the Model Y for Europe at its Gigafactory in Berlin. Given the massive parcel of land Tesla has purchased for Giga Berlin, it is highly probable that the singular building in Musk’s render will be the first of many, similar to Giga Shanghai's multiple sprouting buildings during the first half of the year to today.

The render shows that Giga Berlin will have delivery bays at the side of the factory, following a similar design to Giga Shanghai's Model 3 manufacturing facility. Tesla recently updated its Giga Berlin factory design, hinting that its Europe-based Gigafactory could be its most-advanced factory yet. Elon Musk also stated that the chimneys were carefully hidden in the design of the new Gigafactory.

Tesla Giga Berlin plans to reach a production goal of 100,000 vehicles a year when it starts operations. The EV automaker indicated in its revised application to the State Environment Agency that it would need to expand its Gigafactory in Berlin to produce 150,000 vehicles a year. Tesla’s ultimate goal is to produce 500,000 vehicles a year at Giga Berlin, which should meet demand for Europe in the coming years.

Elon Musk’s Giga Berlin render indicates that Tesla’s application has a high chance of being fully approved by the State Environment Agency in Brandenburg. Recently, Tesla received early approval to continue foundation work and establish private traffic areas on site. It’s the fourth time the EV automaker received early approval for incremental construction to continue at the Giga Berlin site.

The State Environment Agency in Brandenburg will discuss the contents of Tesla’s revised application on September 3. Objections to the Giga Berlin project may be filed leading up to the meeting. Giga Berlin’s final approval may be announced shortly after the September meeting.
