Most of the 250,000 cubic meters of forest soil were removed, the remaining roots of the cut trees were torn out, and the surface of the ground was leveled. The next step should be laying the foundation. To do this, it is necessary to dig a construction pit and request the drainage of the construction site from the authorities. In order for the foundation to be strong, piles must be driven into the ground, but Tesla has not yet applied for it.
The automaker has also withdrawn its initial application for permission to build a plant and is currently reviewing it. The main reason for this is the revision of the question of how to build a plant so that it consumes less water. Brandenburg's Minister of Economics, Jörg Steinbach (SPD), confirmed this to the Economic Committee last week.
Also last week, Environment Ministry spokeswoman Frauke Zelt announced that Tesla intends to build sections that were not included in the application for permission to build the plant earlier.
Despite the fact that local authorities proposed a solution to the water supply problem, Tesla still decided to sacrifice the time for building the factory in order to approach this as responsibly as possible and build the factory in accordance with new requirements. After the new building plan is ready, the automaker will apply for approval of the foundation.
According to the RBB 24, in the short term, there should be a temporary connection with the A10 as access to the plant, the Ministry of Transport Brandenburg said in response to a request from the parliamentary group of free voters. The automaker will pay the cost of the connection point.
In the medium term, it is planned to build a new Freenbrink-Nord motorway junction, which should be financed from state funds.
In addition to the highway, Tesla also plans to use rail freight. However, a strong increase in the use of the east-west route by the company is not yet in sight. Since the plans of the electric car manufacturer regarding logistics at the site have not yet been completed, there is still no final planning of the necessary track systems at the site. However, there is already a German Regional Railway (Deutsche Regionaleisenbahn GmbH) branch on this section that can be used by trains bound for Berlin.
