Maye Musk Talks Elon Musk's First Signs of Genius and Molding Leaders in 'A Woman Makes a Plan' Interview

Maye Musk talked about Elon Musk’s first sign of genius and molding leaders during a recent interview about her new book, “A Woman Makes a Plan.”

In Maye Musk’s recent interview about her book “A Woman Makes a Plan,” with CNBC, the mother of three leaders was asked when she first saw signs of Elon Musk’s genius. Without flinching, she told the CNBC anchors that her eldest son’s genius revealed itself when he was just three years old. At such a young age, she said Elon Musk could reason with her as an adult.

She also shared that Elon Musk finished reading the Encyclopedia Britannica at eight-years-old and he had memorized it. Maye Musk’s anecdote about Elon Musk and how he memorized an entire encyclopedia has been one of the few instances when the Tesla CEO’s photographic memory was highlighted. Many people often forget how much of a genius Elon Musk actually is, especially since his top-notch dancing skills have been more on display lately.

But Elon Musk is just one of Maye Musk’s brilliant children. She also raised Kimbal Musk and Tosca Musk, who each have become leaders in their own sectors of society. Kimbal Musk is making strides in the food industry with Square Roots and The Kitchen Restaurant Group. Meanwhile, Tosca Musk is leading the charge in the movie industry with her woman-centric company Passion Flix—a streaming service that everyone can enjoy but especially made by and for women and those who support them.

In an interview with Business Insider, Maye Musk revealed why she thought her children were able to reach their level of success and how she contributed to their current roles as leaders in society.

“Well, I think it's a little, my parents. They were working all the time. I only saw them at 6 o'clock in the evening for dinner, and they just made us independent. We started working for them when we were young. And in the same way, my children were helping me.

“They were very aware that I had my practice at home, and they need to be well-behaved and do their own homework because I didn't have time to work with them. And they were, they were really good kids. I was very lucky,” she told Business Insider's Sara Silverstein.

Maye Musk gave her parents credit for how her children grew up because they had influenced her reactions and decisions in life, too. It seems like Maye Musk’s upbringing helped her withstand life’s obstacles and raise her children to be just as resilient and kind as herself.

Now Maye Musk has shared her life experiences with others in her book “A Woman Makes a Plan.” The mother of three forward-thinking, compassionate leaders has been busy promoting her book lately, which reveals truths about her life as a mother, businesswoman, and international supermodel.
