Bangladesh plans to Initiate a SpaceX Starlink pilot program to bridge digital divide

SpaceX operates a constellation of approximately 4,519 Starlink satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that provide internet service to over 1.5 million subscribers living across 60 countries and counting. The South Asia country of Bangladesh plans to Initiate a SpaceX Starlink pilot program to bridge the digital divide in rural communities. Bangladesh is poised to unlock new opportunities, empower its people, and accelerate its journey towards a digitally advanced future. Representatives of Starlink met with Bangladesh government representatives and ICT department leaders to showcase the satellite technology.

According to Bangladesh news outlet 'The Business Post', they discussed a pilot program to test the Starlink service in the country. SpaceX Starlink officials met with the State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak at the ICT Tower in the capital city. During the meeting, the state minister got a firsthand experience of the groundbreaking potential of Starlink's cutting-edge technology. As part of the demonstration, a Starlink antenna was installed on the rooftop of the ICT Tower, and the results were nothing short of astonishing. In a captivating demonstration of Starlink's capabilities, the attendees witnessed download speeds of 150 Mbps, and during a second demonstration they reportedly witnessed an astonishing download speed of 500 Mbps. 

Witnessing this remarkable feat, Palak was thoroughly impressed and realized the transformative impact this technology could have on Bangladesh. Recognizing the importance of such an advancement, the state minister told the press they would like to extend a special invitation to SpaceX founder Elon Musk to meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina someday. 
In response to the overwhelming success of the meeting and recognizing the potential benefits, Palak made an exciting announcement. He revealed plans for the upcoming launch of the Starlink pilot program, aiming to bring reliable Starlink high-speed internet to areas that have traditionally lacked access to reliable connectivity. With high-speed internet access the country can bridge the digital divide and provide equal opportunities for development and progress.
