Official deliveries of Tesla Model Y have been started in the UK. Tesla delivered more than 1,000 compact SUVs to its customers in the country this past weekend.
Deliveries of Model Y to the UK market have already begun. At the beginning of last week, the first 25 cars or so were handed over to owners. Smaller individual delivery events took place at several locations, including at Oyster Catcher in Anglesey, the Imperial War Museum in Manchester, Aerospace Bristol, Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, and the American Air Museum in Cambridge.
The final mass car delivery event took place at the Port of Southampton on Saturday, February 19. Nearly 1,000 long-awaited compact SUVs have been handed over to customers to enjoy the experience of owning and driving Tesla vehicles. The company's account shared photos and videos on social media of happy families taking delivery of Model Y.
Demand for Model Y continues to grow and the company is looking to expand deliveries to all markets. With the start of production of Giga Berlin still delayed, Tesla's Chinese factory has taken on the load. According to recently released data, Giga Shanghai delivered 59,845 units in January, up 286.5% year-over-year, of which 40,499 were for export. A few days ago, large batches of Tesla Model 3s and Ys were spotted at the port near Giga Shanghai, preparing for shipment.
