Tesla Activates Enhanced Autopilot in US, Canada & China

Tesla has enabled Enhanced Autopilot in its vehicles in the US, Canada, and China markets. After this feature was proposed for the Australian and New Zealand market, in response to a customer request for the feature for other countries, Elon Musk agreed to do so.

Tesla announced last week that it is offering Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) in Australia and New Zealand. Car owners have now been able to try out most of the FSD features at a lower price, which has become a very tempting proposition. The availability of EAP in Australia and New Zealand has excited Tesla owners around the world. A Canadian owner of a Tesla car made a request to Tesla CEO Elon Musk to enable it for other markets, to which he received an affirmative answer.

Tesla originally launched EAP around the same time it released Full Self-Driving (FSD). FSD was an update to EAP. It includes all EAP features plus Stop Signs and Traffic Lights Recognition, Automatic City Street Driving, and Full Self-Driving. In 2019, Tesla stopped offering EAP in the US and replaced it with basic Autopilot. Now, just one week after Musk agreed to bring EAP back, the feature has been relaunched in the US, Canadian, and Chinese markets. In the US, EAP can be activated for $6,000. In Canada, it costs CA $6,400 (about $4,900), in China RMB 32,000 (about $4,780).

ENHANCED AUTOPILOT INCLUDES:

  • Navigate on Autopilot: Actively guides your car from a highway’s on-ramp to off-ramp, including suggesting lane changes, navigating interchanges, automatically engaging the turn signal and taking the correct exit
  • Auto lane change: Assists in moving to an adjacent lane on the highway when Autosteer is engaged
  • Autopark: Helps automatically parallel or perpendicular park your car, with a single touch
  • Summon: Moves your car in and out of a tight space using the mobile app or key
  • Smart Summon: Moves your car to your location (using your phone's GPS as a target destination) or to a location of your choice, maneuvering around and stopping for objects as necessary.
