Tesla and Lincoln Educational Services Corporation signed a new agreement to establish a new training facility to provide Tesla START training, to train future electric vehicle technicians. Tesla continues to make a significant contribution to the development of the industry with its training programs.

Lincoln Educational Services Corporation has signed a new agreement with Tesla to establish a new training facility to provide Tesla START training. The facility will be built on the Lincoln Tech campus in Denver, Colorado as part of a three-year plan. It will cover approximately 6,000 square feet. Tesla will provide vehicles, tools, equipment, charging stations, and its own instructors to run the program and train future EV technicians. Upon completion of the program, graduates may be employed by Tesla service centers throughout North America.

“This is an exciting, incredible opportunity for our campus and for all of Lincoln Tech's automotive graduates,” said Kelly Moore, President of the Denver campus. “We're focused on the future of the automotive industry, and our campus will be one of only six schools in the western US — one of only 10 across the nation — to offer the Tesla START program.”

The training will be free for students to help develop the next generation of Tesla vehicle service technicians. Automotive technology graduates at any of the Lincoln Tech campuses will be eligible to apply for the advanced EV training program.

“Entering into this agreement with Tesla solidifies Lincoln Tech's commitment to providing electric vehicle training for 21st century Automotive Technicians,” said Scott Shaw, Lincoln Tech's President and CEO. “It is the latest advancement in our EV training programs, and having Tesla's backing and input in developing these programs will be invaluable for our organization and for our students. It is our intention to become the leading provider of EV Automotive Technology training,” he adds.

Tesla START is a 12-week capstone created to specifically teach interested students the technical expertise and knowledge they need to work as an EV technician. Tesla START will cover the following areas of study:

  • HVAC
  • Brakes, chassis systems, and their components
  • Electrical/charging
  • HV power trains
  • Driver assist systems
  • Infotainment systems and their components.

Tesla START is a program that is in line with the company’s mission to create a sustainable car industry with its electric vehicles. Through this curriculum, Tesla is preparing automotive technicians for the future. Tesla START reveals that the maker is willing to take further actions to reach its goal by creating a foundation for EVs through education.
