Tesla Fremont Factory Hits New Daily Production Record

Tesla factories around the world continue to achieve superior performance, increasing production capacity even where it no longer seems possible. The manufacturer's Fremont factory has reached a new daily production record, according to an internal email sent by Elon Musk.

Tesla's ability to increase the production capacity of its factories is admirable. Despite the challenges the world has faced in recent years, the company continues to improve its productivity by about 50% annually and, according to its CEO Elon Musk, will continue to achieve this indicator in the future.

Tesla's Fremont factory was the birthplace of Tesla cars, which launched the electric vehicle revolution. Throughout all these years, the responsibility for the growth of the company was given to this factory, until Giga Shanghai opened in 2019.

The Fremont factory, even with the inefficient location of its manufacturing facilities left over from General Motors and Toyota, has been a great success, and last week celebrated another milestone. The factory achieved its highest daily productivity ever, as noted by Musk in an email to employees, a copy of which was obtained by Drive Tesla. He congratulated the team on this achievement.

Although Musk did not give an exact number, some calculations can be made. In 2021, Fremont produced an average of 8,550 vehicles per week, which equates to about 1,221 vehicles per day. It should be noted that this is an average. At the beginning of the year, the production capacity per day was below this figure, while at the end of the year, the number of vehicles daily produced clearly exceeded this figure.

In addition, Musk said that Giga Berlin has also been successful in ramping up production. Thus, the factory reached a production capacity of 1,000 vehicles per week last week. In this way, Giga Berlin will be able to help deliveries in June with more than 3,000 vehicles.

Giga Texas also continues to gain momentum after shipping the Model Y with 4680 cells this week. Building cars with a structural battery pack will ultimately reduce the time it takes to make an entire car, which will increase the productivity of its factories even more.

The full letter from Elon Musk.

"This has been a very tough quarter, primarily due to supply chain challenges in China, so we need to rally hard to recover!

I’d like to congratulate the Fremont team for achieving an all-time record production day last week and Berlin for making almost 1000 cars last week! This is great stuff.

Shanghai is returning to full strength and Austin is spooling up. Onwards to victory!!

Elon"
