Tesla Giga Shanghai is preparing to start a second shift to restore production to pre-quarantine levels. Newly arrived workers will have to be quarantined for 2-3 days to join the team already working at the factory.

Bloomberg's sources said that Tesla is actively preparing for the restoration of production, seeking to start working in two shifts. The thousands of workers who arrive to start work will be housed in unused factories and an old military camp to ensure they are COVID-19 free. Workers are to be quarantined for 48 to 72 hours before joining the team that is already inside the factory, according to people familiar with the situation. Such measures are part of a large-scale plan developed by the Shanghai government to break the lockdown.

As soon as the two groups of employees are united, they will be placed on a campsite and in vacant factories near Giga Shanghai. The manufacturer will transport them daily from temporary housing to production on special buses.

All businesses in Shanghai that have been allowed to open must operate in a closed-loop system. This means that employees are in the factory 24/7, working, sleeping, and spending their leisure time without leaving the premises. Workers must comply with a number of sanitary and hygienic measures, as well as constantly take tests for COVID-19. China's policy is unambiguous and leaves no room for any maneuvers by manufacturers. It is worth bearing in mind that going back to work and being able to earn money again is a lifesaver for the Chinese. They were on a hard lockdown for more than two months.
