Tesla Insists that Management Return to Work in the Office, Where Most Efficient Work is Done

Tesla insists that the management return to work in the office to become an example for all employees of the company. The manufacturer is a rapidly growing company, bringing to market many new revolutionary products, so the work must be extremely active.

A recently leaked internal email sent by Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that the company is pushing for all employees to return to their workplaces in the office. If employees of the company want to keep their job, they must be at their direct workplace in the office for at least 40 hours a week, in accordance with the requirements of the employer. This means that if the position involves working in the office, then employees cannot work remotely. At the same time, each exceptional case when an employee cannot work in the office will be reviewed and approved personally by Musk. The head of the company also emphasized that a 40-hour workweek is even less than factory workers work. Work commitments must be performed at Tesla's main office, not at a remote branch office unrelated to job duties.

“Anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory workers.

If there are particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible, I will review and approve those exceptions directly.

Moreover, the “office” must be a main Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties, for example being responsible for Fremont factory human relations, but having your office be in another state.

Thanks,
Elon”

Musk emphasized the importance of this by saying that Tesla is an innovative company that releases many new great products, so active work here is a must. The manufacturer “has and will create and actually manufacture the most exciting and meaningful products of any company on Earth. This will not happen by phoning it in,” the CEO wrote.

He also said that the more senior the position of the employee, the more actively he/she should show his/her presence in the workplace. Such perseverance in work should show managers' unequivocal position in supporting the company and become an example for other employees. Musk knows about the effect of this firsthand, as he himself spent many nights in the factory when Tesla ramped up production of Model 3. If at that moment he had not shown dedication to the cause, the company would have already gone bankrupt and would not exist today.

This email was shown in a negative light by many media outlets, however this once again demonstrates their bias. As CEO of the company, Musk demanded that employees directly fulfill their duties, pointing out that if employees do not want to work in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, then it is better for them to leave their workplace. He fulfilled his direct duty, which is constantly done by other CEOs of other companies. The company is a team where every employee should want it to succeed, so it is very important that each employee strive to make an effort for this, while all workers received fair rewards in the form of salary and other bonuses.

In addition, as practice shows, being together in the same room, the team is more productive, as it is capable of creating a collective intelligence. Numerous studies prove that the ability of a group to find solutions to problems is more effective than the best individual solution in this group. In this respect, collective intelligence is superior to the intelligence of any individual in the group, so for a company that constantly creates and releases new products, this is the best solution.
