Tesla develops plans to settle in Turkey. Recent recruitment for positions indicates the imminent opening of a store and service center in the country, after several years of waiting.

Tesla stepped up in Turkey in early 2022 when it appointed Kemal Geçer, who has headed the Lufthansa Airlines Turkey office since 2015, as head of Tesla Motors Turkey and boosted the company's capital in the country by TL 50 million ($2.68 million). This was the first serious hint of further development in Turkey, and local customers even awaited the official start of sales of the company's entire line of vehicles in 2022. However, Tesla has not entered the country's auto market this year, though there are now more signs that it could be as early as next year.

According to a job listing on the company's website, Tesla has started recruiting for several positions in Turkey, most of them in service and one in sales, which indicates the establishment of a store and service center there. All vacancies that were opened were for Istanbul, in the Beşiktaş area. Tesla is looking for:

  • Tesla Advisor (Sales & Customer Support)
  • Automotive Supervisor (Vehicle Service)
  • Parts Consultant (Vehicle Service)
  • Service Advisor (Vehicle Service)
  • Automotive Mechanics/Technicians (Vehicle Service)
  • Mobile Service Technicians (Vehicle Service)

Turkey's car market already has Tesla vehicles that have been delivered privately. However, many of them do not have access to the service they sometimes need. That is why the opening of a service center there is very desirable. In addition, Tesla has plans to open its Supercharger network in Turkey. The cities currently include Istanbul, the capital Ankara, southern Antalya, the western cities of Aydın, Balıkesir and Izmir, the northwestern cities of Bursa, Edirne and Sakarya, and central Konya. However, at the moment it remains unknown exactly when they will be opened.
