Tesla Semi was spotted in final testing in the wild before its first customer deliveries, on December 1. The truck, filmed on video, demonstrated high acceleration and maneuverability, which absolutely distinguishes it from all other trucks in its segment existing on the market today.
The shiny Tesla Semi has been spotted again in Nevada, likely undergoing final testing before delivery. The Class 8 truck was spotted at the roundabout Silver Springs by @HinrichsZane/Twitter. He managed to photograph and film the truck, so far very rare on the roads. The video showed that Semi has excellent acceleration and can quickly accelerate after a complete stop. This is unique to Class 8 trucks which, due to their weight, are unable to do so.
The gross weight of Tesla Semi with a fully loaded trailer is 82,000 pounds. With a full load, Tesla Semi will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds. In addition, the truck will be able to reach the speed limit on highways with a 5% grade. These characteristics are extremely important for driving on the roads, as they allow trucks to safely and quickly overtake without blocking traffic, and reduce the likelihood of accidents. To make this possible, three independent motors provide instant torque and unmatched power at any speed.
Semi comes standard with active safety features that pair with advanced motor and brake controls to deliver traction and stability in all conditions. A central seating position gives the driver better visibility, while an all-electric architecture reduces both rollover risk and cabin intrusion in case of an accident.
The first deliveries of Tesla Semi will take place on December 1. The first customer to receive an order will be Pepsi Co. This will be a solemn event, which will be joined by Elon Musk, who himself will conduct the truck handover ceremony. At the moment, it is not known exactly how many Semis will be delivered.
