Tesla is actively involved in the development of Del Valle County, in which its Giga Texas is located. In addition to wide employment opportunities for the population, the company provides an opportunity for students to complete an internship and get a job at the new factory under the ACC training program.

Tesla is a company that provides ample opportunities for employment. The most important thing for the company is that the candidates share Tesla's mission, and the manufacturer will even help in obtaining a specialty for further employment in its factories.

With the establishment of Tesla in Texas, the manufacturer began to take an active part in enabling local students to find employment at Giga Texas. In 2020, Austin Community College (ACC) set up a campus next to the Tesla factory to prepare people for work. The college offers an eight-week course in manufacturing production and is prepping a manufacturing incubator to fuel job growth. The manufacturer is partnering with the college as well as the Del Valle Independent School District to provide students with internship opportunities at the factory. Last year, 46 ACC students signed a contract with Tesla.

"You will see the opportunity for different programs that maybe we couldn't afford in that area before. It's just going to be, I think, an incredible opportunity to build," said Commissioner Jeff Travillion Fox7.

Tesla has committed to creating at least 5,000 jobs, although Elon Musk has a much higher number in mind. Under the plan, 3,000 jobs will be semi-skilled jobs that do not require higher education. That's why local school districts are considered the big winners in this deal.

"It brings a lot of opportunities for students," said Del Valle ISD communications director Christopher Weddle.

At the moment, Tesla's training programs are already providing the factory with a workforce. However, the program will continue to expand and will host a job-fair for students. Representatives of the company will hold a session on writing resumes and conduct interviews with students. Some interested students will receive internship opportunities as well as additional training required to work at Tesla.

"Tesla will be coming in and doing a resume building session with our students and then April 21st, they'll have interviews specifically for Del Valle High School. Students with the opportunity to be employed at Tesla potentially have some internship opportunities. And it also ties in with ACC training program that they can get the training they need to go work at Tesla," said Weddle.

This fall, Del Valle ISD will also launch a new career track. Students who complete the program not only receive a high school diploma but also receive an associate's degree from the college. Commissioner Travillion anticipates even more opportunities to come.

"We want to see partnerships and things like afterschool programs. We want our kids to be able to use their schools as community centers to stay there every day from three to seven, to do their homework there, to get a third meal there, to be a part of the community and to grow and the folks that will be working on the next generation of technology. identify the things that we need on both sides of the ledger and work together as partners."
