Elon Musk met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. During the meeting, they discussed Tesla's possible investment in the country and improving South Korea's relationship with SpaceX.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Wednesday that South Korea is still one of the top candidates to build another Gigafactory in Asia. During a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Musk said that Korea is an interesting place to invest, adding that he looks forward to visiting the country.

The meeting was reportedly held at Musk's request while President Yoon is in Washington for a six-day state visit. This was reported by Choi Sang-mok, Yoon's chief economic affairs secretary. The meeting took place for about 40 minutes at the Blair House in Washington.

During the meeting, Yoon touted Korea as the ideal country for Tesla's Gigafactory to be built. He said that there are advanced industrial robots and highly skilled workers. The President also gave Musk a brochure, “Korea for the next Gigafactory,” which was specially prepared for the meeting.

“Should Tesla decide to invest (in Korea), we will provide active support in terms of location, workforce and tax incentives,” the Korean president was quoted as saying, according to The Korea Economic Daily.

At the meeting, President Yoon also expressed hope for improved business cooperation between SpaceX and Korean defense and aerospace companies.

“I hope that our cooperation with SpaceX will further expand to foster Korea's space industry,” Yoon said. “Korean companies are ready to join Mr. Musk's new projects such as Starlink services and AI research.”
