The Minister of Infrastructure of Italy invited Elon Musk to invest in the country and build a car factory there. Matteo Salvini considers Musk an “innovative genius,” so he is opening the door to Italy for him.

“I would like him to work here: we open doors for him,” Italian Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini said during a meeting organized by Messaggero, talking about Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He deservedly considers him an innovative genius and would like the engineer to start the production of Tesla cars in Italy. “I see a photo of Elon Musk, one of the main geniuses-innovators. And I would like him to work more with Italy, for Italy and in Italy,” said Salvini.

The minister wants to attract innovative companies and foreign investment to the country. “I would like to create a pole of attraction for foreign investment and capital, which would become a reference point for innovation,” he said.

Salvini is upset that Italy does not have its own car industry, as he would rather drive a locally made car rather than one made in Germany. If Musk wanted to build a car factory in Italy, that would be very welcome. The minister has an ambitious goal, and invites Musk to invest in Italy, for which he says the doors are widely open.

“Since the car industry in Italy, alas, no longer exists, I asked, when I was at the Viminal and even today, to drive an Italian, not a German car. So inviting Elon Musk to invest in Italy and open in Italy is one of those ambitious goals that we set for ourselves: I know that he has some problems with settling in Germany, and we open our doors wide for him,” said Salvini.

Responding to Tesmanian article with an invitation from Salvini, Musk said he was looking forward to meeting him.
