After a few months of waiting, Tesla's first customers in Singapore will soon receive their vehicles. The first batch of Giga Shanghai-made Model 3 has arrived in the country.

Tesla launched an order configurator in Singapore in February. The prices published by the manufacturer amazed not only buyers but also overwhelmed competitors, both among electric vehicles and their gasoline counterparts. By all accounts, buying a Model 3 is one of the most attractive and economical options. The first models introduced in Singapore were the Model 3 Standard Range and Performance variants.

Initially, the first batch of cars was supposed to be delivered in Q2, however Tesla notified its customers that the delivery was postponed for 12-14 weeks. This delay was allegedly due to some difficulties, such as a shortage of semiconductors, the consequences of COVID-19 and the associated inability to open a service center in Singapore, as well as increased demand for cars around the world.

However, some lucky customers will receive their cars as early as July. Tesla Owners Singapore/Twitter announced that the first batch of Model 3 has already arrived in Singapore. According to the report, these are vehicles made at Giga Shanghai, which is a logical step given the close proximity of China and Singapore. The club shared a photo of a truck transporting Tesla vehicles.

The acceleration in deliveries may be due to Tesla being ready to open its first service center soon, an important step towards further development of the company in the country. In mid-June, it became known that it could be open by the end of July. The service center will be opened in Toa Payoh, in the area previously occupied by the Nissan Tan Chong Motor dealership.
