Tesla continues to ramp up the development of its Tesla Energy business. More than 200 Tesla Megapacks worth over $300 million are spotted at Giga Nevada getting ready to ship.
With the wider adoption of energy production from natural energy sources, large energy storage systems have become very popular. Tesla is experiencing a huge increase in demand for its Megapack, offering industry-leading energy storage. A batch of about 216 batteries has been spotted at Giga Nevada and is being prepared for delivery.
Those who follow Tesla's work are already accustomed to the fact that hundreds of cars are often parked outside the factories. However, ready-to-ship Megapacks have never been the focus of attention. Despite this, these are very interesting observations that may show how busy the manufacturer's factory is and that Megapacks are in high demand.
Tesla enthusiast @SawyerMerritt/Twitter shared photos taken at Giga Nevada. They show dozens of Megapacks getting ready for delivery. According to Tesmanian's calculations, there are about 216 units, which, at a cost of $1,389,140 per unit, amount to more than $300 million.
Almost $300 million worth of Tesla Megapacks (priced individually) spotted at Giga Nevada today. Will post a high res pic later today when I get it. Compared to early Dec pics, it seems Tesla has definitely been shipping/delivering a lot of these things.— Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt) January 25, 2022
In the third quarter, Tesla's energy storage deployments increased 71% year-on-year, mainly due to the mass deployment of Megapack. The manufacturer is experiencing a huge demand for this product and currently has a big backlog. To this effect, Tesla decided to build a new factory that will produce Megapacks. In September, construction began on the new MegaFactory in Lathrop, California. In its third-quarter report, the company said the MegaFactory will have a capacity of 40 GWh, which is massive and far exceeds what Tesla can produce now. Results from Q4 and full 2021 will be available on January 26.
