Qatar Airways, one of the world's premier airlines, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Starlink, a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX. This collaboration is set to offer passengers an unprecedented high-speed, low-latency internet experience while onboard, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the airline's 5-star in-flight services.
Starlink's internet service will be deployed on select Qatar Airways aircraft and routes, providing passengers with fast Wi-Fi speeds of up to 350 megabits per second. This robust connectivity will enable travelers to enjoy a multitude of online activities, including gaming, VPN access, sports streaming, and more.
Qatar Airways is now the largest airline to join forces with Starlink, taking a giant leap forward in revolutionizing the in-flight internet experience. The airline's commitment to offering passengers the best onboard service is further bolstered by this partnership, allowing for a seamless, one-click access to high-speed internet.
The Starlink system, powered by SpaceX's innovative satellite constellation, is renowned for its impressive reach and performance, ensuring that passengers experience uninterrupted connectivity throughout their journey, from gate to gate. Currently, Qatar Airways and Starlink are in the pre-launch phase of rolling out this service across the airline's fleet.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, expressed his pride in the collaboration, stating: “Qatar Airways is proud to announce its agreement with Starlink to provide seamless and complimentary Wi-Fi to its global passengers. This exciting collaboration is not only in line with our industry-leading approach to technological adoption, but also serves as an unmissable opportunity to connect Starlink to our global passengers. We look forward to our passengers benefitting from this state-of-the-art addition to Qatar Airways’ in-flight experience,” they wrote in a press release on October 13.
“Qatar Airways continues to lead the way prioritizing the passenger experience,” said SpaceX’s Vice President of Starlink Commercial Sales Jonathan Hofeller: “With Starlink set to support the entire Qatar Airways fleet, passengers traveling between over 150 destinations around the world will be able to stay connected with the most advance high-speed internet service from space. In fact, as soon as passengers step onboard the plane the internet works seamlessly throughout their flight from gate to gate, and all from the comfort of their seats.”
Qatar Airways' collaboration with Starlink further solidifies the airline's reputation as a leader in providing cutting-edge services to its passengers. It joins other prominent carriers like JSX, Hawaiian Airlines, airBaltic, and ZIPAIR in implementing Starlink's high-speed, low-latency internet service. This partnership is expected to transform the in-flight experience, offering travelers a new level of connectivity and entertainment while soaring through the skies.
