TB Marine Shipmanagement equips first vessel with SpaceX Starlink, 'shows very fast connection'
TB Marine Shipmanagement announced that it has equipped their first vessel, called 'Northern Spirit,' with SpaceX's cutting-edge Starlink satellite communication equipment. This technological advancement promises to revolutionize maritime connectivity at sea.
With the installation of the Starlink satellite communication equipment on board the Northern Spirit, the crew members will redefine their business and private communication experiences. The initial speed tests conducted onboard yielded remarkable results, showcasing fast connection. The company shared via LinkedIn a screenshot of the Starlink internet download speed of 210 Mbps (megabits per second).

 

"We are very happy to announce that the first of TB Marine Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG / TB Marine Cont Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG managed vessels, the Northern Spirit, was supplied with Starlink satellite communication equipment. Speed test so far shows very fast connection, unusual for commercial shipping. This new communication equipment should further improve business and private communication onboard. Well done by all involved. We are wishing safe and happy sailing to our crew," company representatives wrote in the LinkedIn post
 
Starlink satellite service will enable seamless communication with the rest of the world. Whether conducting business transactions, sharing vital information, or staying in touch with loved ones onshore, the crew will now have a reliable and efficient means of connectivity. Starlink is also capable of ensuring reliable communications for weather reports at sea and geolocation, among other vital services. As of today, SpaceX operates approximately 4,400 internet-beaming Starlink satellites in Low Earth Orbit that provide high-speed internet to over 1.5 million subscribers globally.
