SpaceX is working to connect the world's most remote places to high-speed Starlink internet. The company already operates the world’s largest broadband constellation with approximately 3,683 Starlink satellites operating in Low Earth Orbit. SpaceX has approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to launch up to 7,500 upgraded second-generation (Gen2) Starlink satellites that are designed to increase the network's capacity and provide new capabilities, like beam voice and text messaging data directly to smartphones without the need of additional hardware in partnership with T-Mobile. SpaceX manufactures Starlink satellites at a factory located in Redmond, Washington. In 2022, company representatives shared they manufacture 45 Starlink satellites per week and said they aim to achieve “high volume manufacturing” to make “millions of consumer facing devices.” As of today, SpaceX serves over one million internet subscribers globally. The company is in the process of building another Starlink facility in Bastrop, Texas, according to Mr. Joe Tegtmeyer @JoeTegtmeyer, who shares frequent photography updates via Twitter and YouTube about SpaceX and Tesla facilities. “The SpaceX site near the Boring Company is nearing completion, with target date end of March. The roof is completed, as are the receiving doc[k]s & the main entrance glass area is also nearly completed. In my upcoming video, I'll do a 3-mo[nth] progress comparison!” shared Tegtmeyer on February 21.

The Boring Company is another of Elon Musk’s business ventures that is focused on building massive tunnels for transportation with the purpose of diminishing traffic in highly congested cities. The new SpaceX Starlink facility can be seen across the road behind The Boring Company facility, pictured below. The company has not publicly announced what the new SpaceX facility will be for, it is large enough to be a Starlink hardware factory and warehouse. The location is approximately one hour away from the Austin, Texas, Tesla Gigafactory site. For frequent updates check out Mr. Joe Tegtmeyer’s YouTube channel, video linked below.
