Tesla CEO Elon Musk met in Washington on Friday with two top officials in the administration of President Joe Biden, Reuters reported. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how Tesla and the president can work together to develop electric vehicle manufacturing and accelerate the electrification of the U.S. vehicle networks. Tesla's goal has always been to accelerate the transition of the world to a renewable energy economy, a huge part of which is the electrification of transport.

Musk met with Democrat John Podesta, who serves as senior advisor to the president for clean energy innovation, and Mitch Landrieu, who oversees infrastructure spending, a White House spokesperson confirmed to the publication.

“John Podesta and Mitch Landrieu met with Elon Musk to discuss shared goals around electrification and how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act can advance electric vehicle production and charging as well as the broader cause of electrification,” the White House spokesperson said.

A few hours after the meeting, Musk also confirmed that it took place.
