Tesla will soon begin a new round of recruitment in Europe and new employees will contribute to the testing of Autopilot, according to the description of open vacancies. As FSD Beta has become more advanced, it can be deployed to countries other than the US if it meets regulatory requirements.
In early June 2021, Tesla announced the expansion of its ADAS test team around the world. According to the job listing, candidates from Canada, Spain, France, and Italy were able to apply and become Tesla employees to accelerate vehicle-level testing of all current and future Autopilot features on the path to full self-driving (FSD). The company later posted two more similar vacancies in China and Japan.
Tesla is actively developing and improving autonomous driving systems. Last year, the company made great strides and was able to significantly improve FSD Beta, which takes autonomous driving to a whole new level. At this stage, the main difficulty is to achieve a single stack for city streets and highways.
Tesla currently has a broad tester base, mostly in the US, reaching an impressive 60,000 owners, but the company's plans didn’t stop there. In an effort to develop autonomous driving systems for worldwide use, Tesla continued to recruit employees associated with this development.
According to the company's website, Tesla is inviting applications for Software Engineer in Test, Autopilot, jobs in the Netherlands, Italy, France, and Germany. The manufacturer wrote that it continues to grow in the EMEA region and expects to include recruitment for this position in its short-term plans, so it suggested applying now. Please note that these positions are currently not available, but candidates can apply now to take advantage of the time when the position becomes open.
In March 2021, Musk stated that Tesla will apply to regional regulators to allow the use of FSD Beta in Europe when the software completes QA testing, which has already taken place. Therefore, there is a good chance that the manufacturer will soon receive or has already received approval for software testing in some European countries and will be able to deploy FSD Beta there in the coming months.
As a Software Engineer in Test, employees in the new position will be responsible for testing all current and future Autopilot features on the path to FSD. This will require experts to be able to automatize large sets of test executions, evaluations, and result-visualizations. The work to be carried out will directly affect the Autopilot experience for the company's customers around the world. Candidates must have excellent coding skills in Python or C++ and a self-driven attitude.
