Tesla Doesn’t Care About Competition, Only the Supply Chain & Production Ramp-Up Are its Main Concerns

Tesla does not care about competition because it is focused on more important things. Only the supply chain and the increase in production capacity are the main causes of concern today.

Early Tuesday morning, Tesla CEO Elon Musk was interviewed at the Qatar Economic Forum 2022. Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait asked if he sees any of the legacy automakers, like Volkswagen, as a real competitor to Tesla in the EV market that can outperform the company. The head of Tesla replied that there are worthy players in the market and, first of all, they are in China, since local companies there are competitive, hard-working, and smart.

However, to date, Tesla does not care about the issue of competitors. The company is experiencing huge demand for its electric vehicles, and the proof is that with ever-increasing production volumes and car prices, the waiting time for orders for customers still continues to increase. At the moment, the main issue that really worries the manufacturer is the supply chain, which is the biggest obstacle to Tesla's growth.

Musk explained that production is being hampered by a shortage of raw materials and, in recent months, the shutdown of assembly lines in China. In this context, the company is struggling to meet the high demand. This caused a slowdown in growth and created the conditions for a very difficult quarter for the manufacturer.
