It seems that Tesla is planning to expand not only in the market in India but also in other countries in Asia. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet with the company executives to discuss investment opportunities in the Pakistani electric vehicle market.

In an effort to expand its presence in the global market, Tesla has begun negotiations with the government of Pakistan on entering the country's market. Famous Pakistani TV presenter, journalist, and columnist Sabir Shakir shared this information in his YouTube video. Shakir says one of Pakistan's most influential businessmen and a key member of MG Pakistan, Javed Afridi, has already had a couple of meetings with Tesla officials. He said the EV maker has already expressed interest in investing in Pakistan's auto market. Later, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet with the company executives to discuss investment opportunities in the Pakistani electric vehicle market, according to Propakistani.

The Pakistani government is reported to have introduced a new electric vehicle policy late last year. A number of benefits and incentives have been announced for interested investors in the local EV sector and for EV buyers. Afridi was one of those who pushed the idea of electric vehicles becoming the norm in Pakistan.

Considering that Pakistan is located not far from China, where Tesla's plant operates, the company's cars can be easily delivered there. If Tesla can agree with the country's government on import tax policy, then they can become affordable to a wide range of the population.

In the past, before Tesla had its Shanghai gigafactory, the country’s Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, invited Tesla to build its first foreign car factory in Pakistan. He even offered the company free land and tax breaks. This disposition of the Pakistani government can serve as an excellent ground for the development of strong relationships that will help accelerate Tesla's entry into the Pakistani market.
