Tesla Giga Shanghai delivered 33,923 vehicles in China and exported 40,479 vehicles in February. Tesla's share in China's EV market was 11.50% in February, with exports up 21.5% YoY.

Exports from the Tesla factory in Shanghai were virtually unchanged in February from January, while deliveries within China were significantly higher. Giga Shanghai exported 40,479 vehicles in February, according to figures released Wednesday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). This is 3.24% more than 39,208 cars in January and 21.5% more than 33,315 cars in the same month last year. Taking into account the fact that Giga Shanghai sold 74,402 Chinese-made vehicles in February, it is clear that 33,923 of them were sold in the domestic market.

Tesla's Shanghai factory produces the Model 3 sedan as well as the Model Y crossover. According to the CPCA, including exports, there were 51,412 Model Ys and 22,990 Model 3s sold in February. Model 3 and Model Y sales data in China are currently unavailable.

In the first half of each quarter, Giga Shanghai produces mainly for export, so during this time, most of the cars are sold outside the country. However, Giga Berlin started to make a larger contribution to monthly deliveries, so Tesla car sales in China were strong in January and February, compared to previous years. They will especially increase in March because, in the second part of each quarter, Giga Shanghai mainly produces for the domestic market.

Retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) in China were 439,000 in February, of which 295,000 were battery electric vehicles (BEVs), according to CPCA data. This means that Tesla's share of the NEV market in China was 7.73% in February. Its BEV market share was 11.5%.
