Tesla's factory in China is an extremely important asset for the company, as the expansion and build-up of production capacity there is proceeding at a very fast pace. Two years after starting operations, Giga Shanghai was able to reach a production capacity of over 50,000 units per month. Tesla sold 52,859 vehicles in November, up 145% from the same period last year, of which 31,732 were in the domestic market.

The American manufacturer sold 52,859 Chinese-made vehicles in November, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). This corresponds to an increase of 144.7% over the same period last year, when 21,604 vehicles were sold. Tesla sold 31,732 Model 3 and Model Y domestically and 21,127 vehicles for export last month. This also means that the manufacturer has reached a production capacity of around 635,000 units per year.

As you can see, Giga Shanghai's sales have remained at roughly the same level as in October, which may mean that the company is seeking to stabilize the operation of factories and delivery centers without overloading employees, which has always been the case. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said earlier that the company will try to change its operating model, reducing the crazy wave of deliveries at the end of the quarter, which is difficult for the team. Therefore, Tesla hopes to reduce this wave in Q4 and Q1.

Exactly. Giga Shanghai makes cars for export in first half of quarter, then cars for far away parts of China, then cars for nearby parts of China.

Net result is a crazy wave of deliveries end of quarter. It is tough on our team, so we’re hoping to reduce the wave in Q4 & Q1.
