Tesla Giga Texas Has 38 Job Openings in Austin as Construction Progresses

Tesla begins recruiting extensively for various positions for Giga Texas. In addition to construction-related positions, the company is hiring employees for its solar business.

Tesla officially announced the construction of its next plant in Austin, Texas during the Q2 2020 Earnings Call. Even though it has only been about 2 weeks since the announcement, the company has already listed 38 positions. 15 positions are related to Tesla's Solar Roof installation and the remaining 23 are factory related.

Tesla has acquired a 2,100-acre site located at the intersection of SH-130 and Harold Green Road.


Application to the Del Valle Independent School District from Colorado River Project, LLC 

At the moment, preparations are underway for construction work on the site. Payne Industries of San Marcos has been charged with taking all the measurements needed to construct the main Giga Texas complex. These efforts will be carried out for 60 days, and all survey points will be used by the designers and construction company to finalize the location and orientation of the buildings that will be Giga Texas.

In the southern zone, work is progressing to fill and compact ponds. The areas of the north pond are being drained and are being prepared for filling and leveling.

Jobs on the company's website indicate that Tesla is set to make rapid progress in Giga Texas. The construction jobs offered by Tesla include:

  • Quality manager
  • Construction Safety Manager
  • Senior Construction Project Manager
  • Systems Engineer, Factory Infrastructure Engineering
  • Construction Safety Specialist
  • Structural Engineer
  • Construction Superintendent
  • Associate Project Manager
  • Sr. Environmental Engineer / Environmental Program Manager
  • Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Environmental Specialist
  • Fire Protection Engineer

Other positions have job duties including:

  • Perform Firmware sustaining for the manufacturing line on a variety of mechanical and Firmware processes, tasks;
  • Firmware Integration Engineer to develop software tools for vehicle diagnostics, testing and validation;
  • Preparation and inspection of production equipment.

Most of the vacancies are related to construction because, at this stage, these are the most important positions. Nevertheless, Tesla appears to be determined to make swift strides in construction and to ready production equipment so that production can commence as early as possible.
