Tesla launches the Cyberquad battery design development competition in China. Battery packs created on the basis of 2170 battery cells will be evaluated by automotive experts, and the creators of the best of them will receive prizes in the form of cash rewards.

Today in China started an unusual competition from Tesla. The contestants will compete for the best battery design for the Cyberquad. The electric ATV was introduced by the manufacturer in 2019 along with Cybertruck. It was a great addition to the electric pickup truck, perfectly matched for its design. At the moment, its production has not yet begun, however at the end of 2021, Tesla began offering its version for kids in the USA, which also delighted parents who were happy to get a ride on it.

Tesla China announced the competition through their Weibo. “The 2022 World Power Battery Congress, Power Battery Integration and Management Technology Challenge officially launches today. Use your battery design to reimagine the future of mobility,” the manufacturer wrote.

The battery design competition will run for three months. Applications started today, April 25, and will last almost four weeks. The preliminary round will take place May 19 and 20 in Beijing. All other events are planned in Yibin, Sichuan Province.

Competitors will be required to use 2170 battery cells as the design material for their battery packs. They will have to develop the ideal package for Cyberquad. Tesla's six R&D technical experts will provide full technical guidance to the contestants. After the development process is complete, 10 veterans from the automotive and power cell industries will give feedback on their ideas.

The top 10 teams will receive cash prizes. The winner will receive RMB 100,000 from the event and RMB 100,000 from the Yibin Municipal Government, which equals about $30,460. The second place team will receive a total of RMB 100,000 (about $15,245) and third place will receive a total of RMB 50,000 (about $7,620). It is possible that in this way Tesla attracts talent to work for the company, so participants could even get a job.
