Tesla Model S Plaid continues to impress. Now it wins the race against a heavily modified McLaren 720S. Whether the start of the race was from 0 mph, from 60 mph, or with the extra weight of Model S, Plaid was stunning and emerged victorious in all three races.

The large family car—Tesla Model S—is very impressive, and its variant, Plaid, is a completely unique specimen whose characteristics will surprise even the biggest racing fans. Tesla Model S Plaid is the fastest production car in the world, surpassing even ultra-expensive supercars. However, Hoonigan decided to host a race between Plaid from the factory and a heavily modified McLaren 720S to test the performance of the electric vehicle.



Hoonigan decided to compare a 1,000-horsepower, carbon-bodied 2018 McLaren 720S and a 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid as part of their popular "This vs. That” show. It is worth noting that after demonstrating and describing all modifications of the McLaren 720S, the team was very impressed and bet that it would definitely win.

Hoonigan originally planned to run two races:

1. start from 0 mph
2. start after the cars reached 60 mph

Much to the surprise of everyone present, the Model S Plaid easily outperformed the McLaren 720S. With incredible acceleration, the enemy had no choice but to inhale the dust from the Tesla's wheels. It should be noted that in the second race, McLaren started earlier than Tesla, but even that did not save it.

The third round was not originally scheduled. But, given the defeat in the previous two rounds, Hoonigan created favorable conditions for the McLaren 720S and gave it a head start over the entire distance. In Model S, three heavy passengers were hooked up, which certainly had a huge impact. Nevertheless, even in such conditions, Plaid proved unbeatable and crossed the finish line first, albeit only by a split second.

Model S Plaid has amazing functionality. It is able to comfortably accommodate an entire family while having plenty of storage space. In addition, the car has a relatively affordable price, especially when compared to the cost of high-performance cars from other manufacturers. Thus Plaid is a diamond at the top of the entire automotive industry and shows that the era of the internal combustion engine is in the rearview.
