Tesla Model Y became the best-selling electric car in the Netherlands in December 2022. The manufacturer has registered almost as many compact SUVs as its three closest competitors.
Tesla sales in the Dutch market in 2022 were not very active. However, sales in December were so strong that they even had a significant impact on sales figures for all of 2022. Data from the Netherlands showed that Model Y was the best-selling electric car in December 2022 with 2,313 units, showing a 156% increase over the same period last year. At the moment, sales figures for the overall car market are not available, but there is a very high chance that this result could put Model Y in the position of one of the best-selling cars in the country in December.
Tesla Model Y sales were also so strong that they were almost equal to the combined sales of its three closest competitors in the EV market. In second place was Cupra Born with 935 units sold. In third place was Audi Q4 e-Tron with 766 registrations. Closing out the top 5 was Volkswagen ID.5 with 761 units.
According to the results of 2022, Tesla Model Y ranked second in the EV market with 3907 units sold, most of which were sold in December. The compact SUV of the Texas-based company was second only to Skoda Enyaq with 5,372 units. Peugeot E-208 rounded out the top 3 with 3,612 sales in the twelve months of the year.
