Tesla Model Y: what should we expect?

In 2013, Tesla Motors registered the trademark “Model Y”. The Tesla Model Y compact electric crossover was introduced in March 2019 and its specifications were announced.
"It has the functionality of an SUV, but it will ride like a sports car," says Elon Musk about Model Y, "This thing will be really tight on corners."

All cars will receive premium interior and sound, as well as a panoramic glass roof, like Model 3. It is expected that Model Y will offer 7 seats. Cargo Space 66 cu ft.

Model Y took better from Model 3 and Model X - in terms of size it is only 10% more than a sedan, has a greater ground clearance and a spacious interior.

The Tesla Model Y is an all-electric four-door compact SUV. It is based on the Model 3 platform. Cars have similar transmission, battery and electric motor. Tesla Model Y is the second car after Model 3, built on the platform of the third generation Tesla.
It aims to reduce the entry price for electric vehicles, while not reducing range and performance.

Like any Tesla, the Model Y is designed to be the safest vehicle in its class. A low center of gravity, a stiff body structure and large crumple zones provide unprecedented protection.
All new Tesla cars come standard with emergency braking and collision warning, blind spot monitoring. Model Y will have the ability to fully self-drive, providing automatic driving on city streets and highways, if the country's regulatory authorities allow it, as well as the ability to find you anywhere in the parking lot.

According to an anonymous source of CleanTechnica, Tesla intends to speed up its shipments and plans to start production somewhere in the first quarter of 2020 at the Fremont factory. Also, according to information from this source, Model Y will indeed use the revolutionary new flexible cable scheme, which reduces the length of wires needed by the machine.

A few days ago, the Midnight Silver Model Y was spotted on a track in California. In the photo posted by Mario Borisov on Facebook, the car is presented in a spectacular color scheme for the Midnight Silver body without chrome elements and is equipped with Power Sports wheels with reduced aerodynamic drag. Previously, Tesla put such wheels only on Model 3 cars supplied to Chinese customers.

Earlier, near the Tesla main office in Palo Alto, the Model Y was spotted on tests. The rear diffuser of the car received a new design compared to what was shown at the presentation. Model Y is also shod in unusual wheels that are not available at the Tesla store. Judging by the lack of red brake calipers in the Performance model, we can assume that this is a tester for the Long Range AWD version, which will receive a range of 280 miles without recharging. Also in the pictures it is noticeable that the car received black door handles.
