At least nine Tesla Model Ys were used to promote the new Washington Commanders NFL team name. Tesla’s electric vehicles are not only environmentally friendly but also attract the attention of the public, as they are among the most desirable in the world.

In recent years, Tesla vehicles have been increasingly used in movies, TV series, music videos, and commercials. Now the Washington Commanders football team used several Model Ys to promote its new team name. Videos shared by the Washington Commanders' official Twitter account and ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter show at least nine Tesla vehicles painted in the team's signature colors. According to the description, Model Ys drove around DC, Maryland, and Virginia to hand out Washington Commanders' merchandise.

The team formerly known as the Redskins made the announcement Wednesday about picking a new name. The franchise had said in 2020 that it was dropping the name and its Indian chief logo, responding to complaints from Native Americans and others who found the moniker offensive, according to Fortune. It played the past two seasons as the Washington Football Team. Team names, school mascots, and corporate logos have been getting makeovers to drop offensive elements.

The use of Tesla vehicles in promotion is very important. According to search queries, all the manufacturer's cars are among the most popular in the world. This may mean that they are undoubtedly attracting increased attention—exactly what the Washington Commanders seek. Beyond that, Tesla vehicles are electric vehicles, so their use by the team may indicate their commitment to being more environmentally friendly.
