It seems that Tesla is planning to expand its New York City Gigafactory and the company began recruiting for two positions related to the construction process there.

Tesla Giga New York (or Gigafactory 2) is a photovoltaic (PV) cell factory leased by Tesla's subsidiary SolarCity in Buffalo, New York. The factory, owned by the State of New York, was built on brownfield land remediated from a former steel mill. Construction of the factory started in 2014 and was completed in 2016–17.

In 2017, Tesla began manufacturing Solar Roof V3, solar cells and modules at Gigafactory 2, a 1.2 million square foot facility in Buffalo. The company added new product lines in 2019 that will support electrical components for Supercharger and energy storage products.

The company has now opened two positions related to the construction and expansion of Giga New York: Construction Superintendent and Construction Project Manager. These positions are primarily related to the planning and organization of the construction process.

Construction Project Manager
As a Project Manager, you will be playing a critical role in construction at the Tesla New York Gigafactory. You will work primarily in the office supporting civil, structural and architectural trades. You will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with other trades, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering while tracking a project's schedule and budget.

Construction Superintendent
As a Construction Superintendent, you will be playing a critical role in building the world's largest factory. You will work primarily in the field managing trades and subcontractors and will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with base build, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering while tracking a project's schedule and budget.

Notable is the fact that the Construction Superintendent's position description states that the employee will be playing a critical role in building "the world's largest factory." Tesla may have planned an expansion for Giga New York to make this possible.

The company's solar business continues to grow and its products are very popular. In order to meet the demand for them not only in the United States but throughout the world, Tesla will have to increase its production capacity. The most ideal place for this at the moment is Buffalo, where the company already has manufacturing facilities and an established supply chain.
