Last week, Tesla celebrated another milestone: the production of its millionth car at Giga Shanghai. This achievement was so significant that the Chinese Ambassador to the United States also congratulated the manufacturer on this.
Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang congratulated Giga Shanghai and Tesla CEO Elon Musk on the production of its millionth car off the factory's assembly line. He noted that this is a “marvelous achievement”because the production from 0 cars to 1 million cars occurred in less than three years of the factory's operation. The cooperation between Tesla and China is unique, and the ambassador saw it as a model of US-China cooperation, writing that together, the countries can “make things happen.”
In less than 3 years, from 0 to 1,000,000. This is a marvelous achievement. Together, China & the US can make things happen. Congratulations to @elonmusk and all the @teslacn Giga Shanghai contributors. https://t.co/hffcYq3gpa

Giga Shanghai is the first wholly foreign-owned car manufacturing facility in China. The factory plays an important role in the stability of relations between the US and China, as the manufacturer, with its own efforts, accelerates the development of both countries in the field.
Giga Shanghai began construction on January 7, 2019, and began test production just 10 months later. The first Model 3 was delivered in December 2019. Such speed still has no analogues in the field. By the end of 2020, the factory's annual capacity reached 250,000 units and had increased to over 450,000 units by the end of 2021. Giga Shanghai is now on track to produce around 1.1 million vehicles a year.
