Tesla Seeks Autopilot Data Collection Operator in Germany

Tesla seeks an Autopilot data collection operator in Germany, per the job listing on the manufacturer's website. The move indicates that the company is committed to improving Autopilot's performance in Germany and increasing customer satisfaction.

Tesla has opened hiring for the position of Autopilot Data Collection Operator - EU, which indicates the increasing development of Autopilot systems in Europe. The new job listing on the manufacturer's website has been spotted by @Tesla_Adri/Twitter (via Tesla North). The location of this position is indicated as Grünheide, Brandenburg, where Giga Berlin is located. However, according to the description, 50% of the time, the employee will have to travel.


The main task will be to collect data at the vehicle level and transfer it to the Autopilot team. The employee will have to drive to a designated area where they will record their ride on various recording devices. Tesla is looking for an employee who will work flexible hours, which includes day and night shifts, as well as the ability to work a day on the weekend. In addition, the company warns that overtime is possible in this position. The manufacturer needs an employee with a high level of flexibility, as they will need to travel frequently on business trips.

The data collected by the employee will directly contribute to the development of Tesla's autonomous driving systems and will help improve the Autopilot system. Additionally, the description states that the employee will be driving a “prototype” vehicle, which may indicate that Tesla may be testing new variants of its vehicles. This may include software changes as well as some design changes. The manufacturer says that gradually the employee will become an expert on “our prototype data collection vehicles across Germany.”

“We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to help accelerate vehicle level data collection for the Autopilot team. The Prototype Vehicle Operator will help drive improvement of Tesla’s Autopilot system by operating and becoming an expert on our prototype data collection vehicles across Germany. This role requires a high level of flexibility, as frequent travel is necessary on this team.”

Requirements:

  • Clean driving record and safe driving habits.
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly observational.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent PC skills, especially MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Familiarity with ADAS/Autopilot systems and their sensors is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and how they work, such as brakes and power assisted steering, is preferred.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
