In an intention to develop its presence in Germany, Tesla found a place in Berlin to host R&D center.

According to Tagesspiegel, the Euref campus in Berlin-Schöneberg should get a prominent tenant. Tesla wants to place its design and development center in an 80-meter gasmeter. Euref owner Reinhard Müller did not want to confirm corresponding information from the Tagesspiegel Background Mobility & Transport that confidentiality declarations had been signed.

Despite this, Müller shared some details. According to him, two companies from outside of Berlin, “both mobility providers,” can be considered tenants of the gasmeter.

The Euref campus has made a name for itself as a location for climate protection and the energy transition. Around 150 companies, research institutions and start-ups are located on the 5.5 hectare site.

This fall, Berlin-based gas supplier Gasag will move to a new building, which will then be sourced from the German Federal Energy Agency (Dena). Early next year, the German Renewable Energy Association will move its headquarters from Berlin-Mitte to the Euref campus.

It is estimated that Tesla’s arrival will take several more years, although knowing Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk its can take much less time than expected.

A congress center is planned on the ground floor, and 30,000 square meters of office space will be created on the floors above. According to Tagesspiegel Background Mobility & Transport, Tesla plans to place about 2,000 workers there. A total of about 6,500 people will work on the Euref campus.
