Tesla TSLA Draws Major Investor Confidence as Now Vanguard Acquires Nearly 59M Shares

Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) development and growth continues to instill confidence in investors. Another large, private and independent investment firm bought almost 59 million shares of the company, becoming one of the largest of Tesla's shareholders.

On February 10, Vanguard Group Inc filed an SC 13G form with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosing ownership of 57,814,310 shares of Tesla Inc. Such a large position represents 6.1 percent ownership of the company. It also makes the investment firm the third largest owner of Tesla shares.

Elon Musk Musk has roughly 241 million Tesla shares, including stock options, representing 25.1% of the total shares outstanding, according to a 13G filing, making him the largest shareholder.

Vanguard Group Inc now owns 57.8 million Tesla shares. The firm began investing in the California-based manufacturer in 2013, and now accounts for 6.1% of the investment firm's portfolio.

February 5, another firm -- BlackRock Inc. -- filed an SC 13G form with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), disclosing ownership of 50,080,396 shares of Tesla. This represents 5.3 percent ownership of the company.

Tesla continues to demonstrate sustainability, and intends to increase production and delivery by 50% in 2021. With the fast-growing Giga Shanghai, as well as Giga Berlin and Giga Texas, and a powerful roadmap, Tesla is becoming a staple of any investor's portfolio.
