9,000-Ton Giga Press from IDRA for Tesla Cybertruck Production Soon to Be Revealed

IDRA GROUP is about to introduce a 9,000-ton Giga Press for high-pressure die-cast aluminum. Apparently, it is on this machine that single-piece ends of the Tesla Cybertruck will be produced, the start of production of which is scheduled for 2023.

IDRA GROUP is Tesla's supplier and produces key manufacturing machines for the Texas-based company. The Giga Press they made revolutionized the production of cars, which provided Tesla with even greater superiority over legacy competitors. At the moment, 6,000-ton Giga Presses installed at all of the company's manufacturing facilities around the world are making single-piece ends for Model Y, but Giga Texas may soon have more powerful machines for Cybertruck production.

IDRA has started advertising its new giant machine, announcing that it will be a 9,000-ton Giga Press. While the company has not released much information, it has released a few pictures and a short video. โ€œEvery Day we get closer to the realization of ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ—๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ญ ๐†๐ข๐ ๐š๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ,โ€ wrote IDRA in its LinkedIn.

According to the announcement, the new Giga Press will be unveiled at the Open House, which will be held from June 6 to 14, 2022. โ€œThe star of the show is the 9,000 CS Giga Press. You have the chance to be up close and see firsthand a production machine that is designed to cast the biggest and most complex structural parts being manufactured today,โ€ IDRA noted in its announcement. If you would like to visit the Open House event, you can send an email to the following email address: ๐ค.๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ค๐ž๐ฌ@๐ข๐๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฉ.๐œ๐จ๐ฆ

Everything indicates that this Giga Press is designed for Tesla, namely for its Cybertruck, which is scheduled for production in 2023. Earlier, the company CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla intends to use a similar Giga Press for Model Y, but the clamping force for producing the rear part of Cybertruck will be 8,000 tons. Apparently, the design has been improved, perhaps due to the fact that it is better suited to the stated requirements. In the spring of 2021, IDRA confirmed that Tesla had placed an order for such a machine.
