The agreement for the purchase of a site for the Tesla Giga Berlin wastewater treatment plant and the adjacent Freienbrink Freight Center has been approved.

The water association Strausberg Erkner (WSE) is allowed to buy a piece of land from Landesbetrieb Forst to build a treatment plant for Tesla and others in the area. The purchase agreement was approved by the budget and finance committee on Friday, which was confirmed by several members of the committee to rbb24.

The property is a piece of forest with an area of about ten hectares in the district of Freienbrink (Grünheide). The planned industrial wastewater treatment plant is designed to treat wastewater from the Tesla and adjacent freight traffic center Freienbrink and feed it into the WSE water cycle.

The sale and purchase agreement between the water company Strausberg Erkner and the state forestry company was already concluded in May this year, but still had to be confirmed by the budget committee. The vote in the state parliament's budget committee was delayed due to some concerns about the issue. At this point, the purchase is approved and the procedure can move on to the next step.

Apart from this, during a public information event held on September 11, Tesla stated that it is committed to a closed water cycle. This means that after treatment, the saved water can be used for other projects in the area, such as the construction of a new school building in Hoppegarten or other projects in the region.
