The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to the USA, met with Elon Musk. They discussed Twitter as well as plans for the future of manufacturing electric vehicles and batteries.
French President Emmanuel Macron continued his visit to the United States and was in New Orleans on December 2, where he promoted a common culture and commitment to climate policy. Even having a busy schedule, he took the time to meet with the head of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter to discuss a number of important issues.
In a Twitter thread, Macron wrote that he had a “clear and candid conversation” with Musk about the platform. They concluded that Twitter should have “transparent user policies, significant reinforcement of content moderation and protection of freedom of speech: efforts have to be made by Twitter to comply with European regulations.” The issue of improving the protection of children on the Internet was also discussed. Musk confirmed that the platform will take part in the Christchurch Call.
In addition, as part of the drive to decarbonize and re-industrialize France and all of Europe, Macron and Musk discussed future green industry projects, the President said in another tweet. He clarified that it was about the production of electric vehicles and batteries. In response to Macron's tweet, Musk said it was an honor to meet him again and stressed that he was looking forward to exciting plans in France.

At this time, no other details of the meeting have been released. It is possible that during the meeting the talk was about the general development of Tesla in Europe, which is now gaining momentum at the Berlin Gigafactory, although it is likely that other plans for the manufacturer's future production facilities in Europe were also discussed. In January 2017, after Tesla announced plans to build a factory in Europe in 2016, France tried to woo the manufacturer by luring the company into choosing the country as its location. The then French Economy Minister Michel Sapin even visited Tesla's Fremont factory.
