With his inventive and innovative spirit, Elon Musk has revolutionized several industries, from electric vehicles and batteries to space travel. This year's Axel Springer Award goes to Elon Musk.
The Axel Springer Prize is awarded annually to outstanding individuals who are extremely innovative, create new markets and change old markets, shape culture and value social responsibility. Musk will accept the award on December 1, 2020, at Axel Springer's headquarters in Berlin. The theme of the evening is "An Evening for Elon Musk - Mission to Mars."
“As one of the most creative entrepreneurs and most brilliant engineers of the digital age, Elon Musk inspires an entire generation. He combines great visions with the indomitable will to achieve them. With PayPal, SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk has turned entire industries upside down, and his drive is irrepressible. He is motivated by the goal of making life better for humanity. And not in small steps, but by fundamentally turning the way we do things on their head. With incredible success," said Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer SE.
Musk is the one who creates a new outlook on life, he is the visionary behind Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company, among others.
As co-founder and CEO of Tesla, he leads the company's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. He oversees all processes in the company, from development to production. Musk is someone who not only runs a company but understands every aspect of it.
As the founder and chief engineer of SpaceX, Elon is behind the development of the world's most technologically advanced rockets and spacecraft for low-Earth orbit missions and, ultimately, for transporting people to Mars and interplanetary travel.

In May, SpaceX became the first commercial company in history to take NASA astronauts to the International Space Station and return them safely home to Earth. The company is also working on Starlink, to provide high-speed broadband to locations around the world where access has been unreliable or unavailable.
As the founder of Neuralink, Musk is committed to limit human suffering. Neuralink is a neurotechnology company that develops ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces for connecting the human brain to computers.
At the end of August, the company demonstrated a working Neuralink brain-machine interface device implanted in a pig. Ultimately, Musk's vision for Neuralink is for humans to merge with Artificial Intelligence (AI): “Such that the future of the world is controlled by the combined will of the people of Earth...I think that that's obviously gonna be the future that we want."
Musk is also the founder of The Boring Company, which combines fast, affordable tunneling technology with an all-electric public transit system to reduce congestion in the city and enable high-speed travel over long distances.

Musk previously co-founded the world's leading internet payment service, PayPal and Zip2, one of the first internet maps and route planning services.
In addition to successful companies, Elon has his own foundation--the Musk Foundation--through which he promotes research in the field of renewable energy, space travel, pediatrics, STEM education and safe artificial intelligence. As an individual, he provides significant financial support to numerous charitable projects.
Elon is the fifth recipient of the Axel Springer Award. The award recognizes achievements to date and encourages them to develop them further. The format of the event is always adapted to the individual laureate.
