Traffic congestion around the world is a problem that leads to the loss of time, energy, and environmental pollution. This makes urban life uncomfortable for people. Each year, governments dedicate huge budgets to improve this problem, with limited success. Big cities suffer especially severely during rush hour. The Boring Company was created by Elon Musk to help solve this problem.

The Boring Co. is trying to bypass traffic by creating a system of super-safe earthquake-resistant tunnels under cities. "We should build more tunnels. Put trains in them or cars or whatever, but every large city on Earth is plagued by traffic & it’s getting worse. Multi-level tunnels might solve this, so worth trying," Musk said.

Musk's aspirations were well appreciated by representatives of Las Vegas. They chose The Boring Co. for the design, construction, and management of dual tunnels capable of transporting passengers in small autonomous vehicles. Musk wrote today that the first operational tunnel under Las Vegas is almost ready.

The CEO of the company aspires to eventually build such a system linking Washington, DC and New York along the busy U.S. Northeast corridor; he has also proposed projects for Chicago and Los Angeles.

But that's not all the interesting news. At the suggestion of one of his fans on Twitter, Musk wrote that The Boring Co. would probably drill such a tunnel under Giga Texas.

It looks like the new Austin factory is going to be super modern, advanced, and friendly to locals. Giga Texas will have "a boardwalk where there'll be a hiking and biking trail. It's going to basically be an ecological paradise. Birds in the trees, butterfly, fish in the stream, and they will be open to the public as well. So not closed and only Tesla," said Musk during the 2Q 2020 Earnings Call.

Now we can also expect there to be tunnels. A system of tunnels under the factory can help reduce pressure on nearby roads, which is likely to increase due to the operation of the factory. The Boring Co. tunnel benefits cannot be overestimated.
