A rail shuttle that transports employees from Erkner to Tesla Giga Berlin has been approved by the state. The train will make 29 trips per day in each direction to significantly reduce the need for internal combustion engine vehicles for employee commutes.

Tesla's planned rail link to bring its employees to and from the factory has been approved, according to RBB. The State Building and Transport Authority has decided to create a connection between Erkner (Oder-Spree) and Giga Berlin, requested by the manufacturer last Friday, Brandenburg Transport Minister Guido Beermann said Thursday in the infrastructure committee of the state parliament.

The minister said that Tesla is planning 29 daily trips in each direction. According to information from the company, commissioning is scheduled for the second quarter of this year. As part of the project, which will be implemented by Deutsche Regionaleisenbahn GmbH, Giga Berlin will be connected to the public railway infrastructure. For this purpose, the existing track for freight traffic will be used.

According to the ministry, the site of the future “Freienbrink Süd” access point is located directly at the entrance to the factory, which is very convenient for employees commuting to work.
