Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are the foundation of a sustainable future. Tesla emphasized their importance in a tweet, reflecting on the Oxnard BESS in California, which was launched in 2021.
Energy storage batteries are the foundation for a sustainable energy future. The wind does not blow and the sun does not shine all the time, so humanity needs to store energy somewhere. Especially for this, Tesla has developed batteries, smaller for home use and larger for enterprises. Tesla Megapack is one of the company's most important products as it provides clean energy.
The importance of Tesla Megapack is difficult to overestimate, so the company shared a reminder on its Twitter account. The manufacturer posted a video of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Oxnard, California, which consists of 142 Megapack units. The project was launched in 2021 as a result of a local community initiative that fought against the installation of a new fossil fuel-powered peaker plant.
In Oxnard, California, the community came together to advocate against the installation of a new fossil fuel-powered peaker plant.

This 100-megawatt battery storage system at Oxnard is designed to power tens of thousands of homes and businesses for hours. It can power Oxnard for four hours and Ventura County for 30 minutes.
“The main thing is they provide this insurance policy against these extreme weather events that are more and more common,” said John Breckenridge, who is head of Capital Dynamic's clean energy infrastructure business. “That's why, in our view, these are really important for Californians.”
