Tesla Giga Shanghai MIC Model 3 Registrations Surge, More Expected Before April Ends

Tesla Giga Shanghai’s MIC Model 3 SR+ registrations have surged in China, and more are expected before the end of April. The rapid increase in MIC Model 3 registrations in Beijing are a strong indication that Tesla China’s promotions for the Standard Range Plus and Long Range RWD were quite successful and may rake in stellar numbers for the company this April.

Tesla may have started Q2 2020 off with a bang, thanks to its branch in China and Giga Shanghai. According to Tesla enthusiast @ray4Tesla, Beijing’s DMV saw a surge of Tesla Model 3 registrations for the Standard Range Plus variant recently. A picture credited to Ying Ge revealed how many Tesla vehicles were being registered at the Beijing DMV.

The spike in sales for the locally-made Model 3 may be a result of the promotions company released for April, as stated in a previous Tesmanian reportTesla China offered MIC Model 3 deals that most customers clearly could not refuse.

The promotions worked in conjunction with the Bank of China, the number one bank in the nation. Bank of China cardholders received exclusive deals for purchasing the Model 3 made in Giga Shanghai.

The promotions end on April 30. More MIC Model 3 SR+ registrations are expected to take place in the next couple of days. A surge of registrations for Tesla cars will most likely continue until the end of the promotions. Then registrations for the MIC Model 3 LR RWD variant could start to pick up.

Tesla owner @ray4Tesla also shared that Giga Shanghai’s Model 3 Long Range RWD units were sold out for June deliveries. A source close to the matter revealed to Tesmanian that the MIC Model 3 LR RWD also had promotions running for April.

Based on the surge in China-made Model 3 registrations depicted in Beijing’s DMV, Tesla’s sales numbers for April are looking good, and demand for Giga Shanghai’s vehicles remain strong. Tesla China sales are an indication that the company could be starting Q2 2020 on a good note.

The Chinese government has taken steps to promote battery electric vehicles (BEV). For instance, it plans to invest RMB¥10 billion to construct the necessary BEV infrastructure in the country. Major cities in China are also encouraging consumers to purchase BEV vehicles. For example, Beijing plans to increase its BEV license quota
