Tesla Model 3 became the ninth best-selling car in the world in 2021, becoming the only electric car in the top 10. Its sibling, Model Y, rose to nineteenth place and entered the top 20. These results indicate that the world is not just switching to electric vehicles, but specifically to Tesla's electric vehicles.
Where would the world be now if not for the efforts of the brilliant engineer fighting for a sustainable energy economy, Elon Musk and his associates? This question is worth asking more often, as it is clear that the market for electric vehicles would be no more than in its infancy, if not for them. Less than 20 years since its founding, Tesla has already made huge changes in the entire automotive industry.
Every time one drives a gasoline car, pollutants are released directly into the air. This poses significant risks to human health and the environment. Cars are the main source of air pollution. That is why it is so important to quickly switch from the use of cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EV). To do this, Tesla created high-tech EVs that have now become some of the most coveted in the world.
In addition to words, there are statistics that confirm Tesla's success in the automotive market. According to Car Industry Analysis data, Tesla Model 3, with 508,000 sales, entered the top 10 best-selling cars in the world in 2021, ranking ninth and competing with the most popular for many years ICE models. They also predict that Model 3 has every chance of being in the top 5 in 2022. Tesla Model Y entered the top 20, ranking 19th with 392,000 units sold. Both Tesla vehicles were two of the three electric vehicles featured in the top 20. Besides them, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV is in 20th place with 391,000 units sold.
