Tesla Model Y was also the best-selling premium SUV in China in December, with 29,387 sales, according to CPCA. In general, the car led throughout the year, which provided it with a victory at the end of the year with a huge advantage.
In terms of sales in the SUV segment at any price point, the Tesla Model was second only to BYD Song, which sold 478,811 vehicles last year. The cost of the Chinese SUV, at about $26,000, was attractive to local customers. However, Model Y did a great job considering it cost around $50,000 at the time, almost twice as much as BYD Song. In third place is the Haval H6, worth about $25,000, with 250,120 vehicles sold.
