Tesla Model Y has become Germany's best-selling EV for the first seven months of 2023. The compact SUV remains the top pick for Germans, despite local automakers ramping up EV production efforts.

Tesla Model Y remains Germany's best-selling electric car, now for the first seven months of the year. The car maintained its lead despite July’s sales being lower than usual. This is due to the fact that every first month of the quarter, Tesla factories focus on production for export. Since Giga Berlin is located in Germany, the local market registered fewer sales than in other months.

In July, Model Y sales were relatively modest, with 2,067 units. The car gave way to Volkswagen with its ID.4 and ID.5, whose sales are merged. The models took first place with total sales of 4,028 units. In second place was Fiat 500E with 2,487 units.

Despite this, Model Y still maintained its position as Germany's best-selling electric car in 2023. In the first seven months of the year, 29,892 units were sold. It is noteworthy that the local media chose to ignore this merit of the model, not noting the achievement in any way. Instead, they chose to highlight only that Volkswagen's overall EV sales outperformed Tesla's overall sales. Still, this did not change the fact that Model Y became the best-selling EV in Germany so far in 2023.

In second place is Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 with 22,405 units. In third place is Volkswagen ID.3 with 13,647 units. In fourth place is Fiat 500E with 11,159 sales. Closing out the top five is Audi Q4 E-TRON with 9,737 units.
