Telefónica Global Solutions Partners with SpaceX's Starlink for Global Expansion of Enterprise Connectivity

Telefónica Global Solutions, a leading Latin American and European telecommunications company, has announced its strategic partnership with SpaceX's broadband division, Starlink, to bring cutting-edge enterprise connectivity solutions to global markets. This collaboration will see Telefónica incorporating Starlink's innovative offerings into its existing portfolio, enhancing its range of services for businesses and individuals alike.

Telefonica Global Solutions says Starlink will offer broadband speeds of up to 350 Mbps downstream. This move signifies Telefónica's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and providing its customers with world-class connectivity solutions. “The satellite industry is undergoing an unprecedent revolution. Satellite enables connectivity projects to be executed very quickly and efficiently. At Telefónica Global Solutions, we have been offering added value satellite solutions for many years and with this partnership, we start working hand in hand with Starlink Enterprise to offer new generation solutions to our customers," stated Julio Beamonte, CEO of Telefónica Global Solutions.

As part of its expansion strategy, Telefónica aims to roll out Starlink's services across six key markets by the end of 2023. The integration of Starlink's services is already making waves in Mexico, where it was launched in June 2023. The subscription-based pricing model offers flexibility to customers, with plans ranging from MXN 1,000 to MXN 5,000 ( around $58 to $200 USD) per month. Telefónica's dedication to customer satisfaction is further underscored by the deployment of its own satellite internet management platform, designed in-house. The company says its platform ensures a smooth and uninterrupted connection experience for users, monitoring for potential issues and compiling detailed reports.

Rafael Arturo González, Country Director for Movistar Empresas Mexico, expressed his excitement about the new Starlink offering during the Movistar Empresas Hispam Digital Forum. He emphasized that the service is primarily aimed at the business sector, offering them the means to connect seamlessly with existing networks. The goal is to complement their connectivity services at various business locations, including stores, operational centers, and warehouses.

Telefónica's expansion plan for Starlink services is set to encompass its core markets, including Brazil and Spain, as well as three nations within its Latin América cluster: Chile, Colombia, and Peru. The company's approach to introducing Starlink is centered around enhancing the existing connectivity solutions, rather than replacing them.

This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward for Telefónica and SpaceX's Starlink, promising to revolutionize the way businesses harness the power of satellite connectivity. With a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and innovation, both companies are poised to shape the future of global telecommunications.
