In recent years, the popularity of electric vehicles has continued to grow, with compact SUVs in particular demand. That is why a German electromobility platform recently tested nine electric vehicles from this category. They came to the conclusion that Tesla Model Y is the best and should be a priority for consumers when buying.
The Federal Motor Transport Administration of Germany (KBA) estimates that about a quarter of newly registered vehicles in Germany in 2021 will be SUVs. In parallel with this, there has been a trend showing a decline in the sales of vehicles with internal combustion engines, while the number of registrations of electric vehicles is growing from year to year. The number of EV offerings amongst different brands is growing and this is true for a variety of new electric SUVs. The German electromobility platform, EFAHRER.com, tested nine of the most popular compact electric SUVs as they are the most popular cars for the Germans.
According to EFAHRER.com's findings, electric vehicle leader Tesla is winning with its Model Y, creating serious competition for the German auto industry with BMW, Volkswagen, and Mercedes. Korean and Chinese manufacturers also took part in the competition, but like the German companies, they too finished behind the leader, Tesla Model Y.
The Tesla Model Y compact SUV easily takes the crown in the EFAHRER-SUV comparison. Model Y outperforms many of its German competitors in terms of energy consumption and range. The car offers all-wheel drive and much more powerful performance than others. Efficiency is excellent even on the highway: 23.3 kWh at 60 miles, equating a real range of 208 miles at 81 mph, according to GPS data.
Model Y not only travels farther than any competitor, but also charges significantly faster. It takes less than 30 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent battery capacity. Together with the range, these characteristics make Model Y unrivaled.
